A safe haven for women and children
Welcome to Kwetu, a vital part of Women's Initiatives Network. We are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive community space for women and children. Explore how we are making a difference and providing a sanctuary for growth and empowerment in The Hague.

Our mission: a safe space for every woman
At Kwetu, part of Women's Initiatives Network, we are driven by the belief that every woman and child deserves a safe and supportive environment. We are dedicated to fostering a community where empowerment and growth flourish, free from judgment or harm. Our multipurpose space services are designed to provide sanctuary and opportunity.

Creating safe spaces: our core purpose
Inspired by the resilience of women, Kwetu was founded as a survivor-led community safe space in the heart of The Hague. We provide a sanctuary for women and girls from refugee backgrounds, including asylum seekers and undocumented migrant women, ensuring they feel physically and emotionally secure. Here, they can express themselves freely, rebuild their lives, and connect with vital support networks.

Empowering lives, building a stronger community
By providing a safe space, Kwetu enables women to participate fully in community life without fear. We offer vital support including social networking, life skills training, legal and medical access, livelihood activities, daycare services, and awareness-raising sessions. This initiative is crucial for fostering a stronger, more equitable society, directly supporting the Women's Initiatives Network's mission for gender equality and justice. We believe every woman deserves a place where she feels valued and protected.
"I can't say enough about the profound sense of safety and community I found at Kwetu. Their team went above and beyond to provide the support and resources I needed, exceeding all my expectations."
